Ice videos

Tabitha began making ice art animations while on her study international exchange in Australia in 2013. While brushing her teeth an idea brewed one morning, she rushed over to the art studio, grabbed some silicone and mixer, and made a silicone mould, embedded in a wooden box and once it was set, poured water into the mould and stuck it in the freezer.

Later, she popped the delicate toothbrush ice mould out, and set it on a table, and set to film the melting moment before her very eyes. Her ice series was born.

Her second ice melting experience with filming arose when she arrived back in the UK, visited her art school’s photography studio and spoke with the site’s photographer Joseph Emilien, where she asked for support to film a melting block of ice with a pewter pot frozen inside of it.

Tabitha set up the block of ice in a tray, and Joseph supported to set up the tripod and camera tripping every 10 seconds to capture a single detailed photograph. After 8 hours, Tabitha had a series of hundreds of images which she set into motion to create a detailed video - a part of her final degree show.
